Infineon Introduces PSOC™ Control C3 Performance Line for High-Speed Power and Motor Control

Infineon Technologies AG has introduced the PSOC™ Control C3 Performance Line, a new family of high-performance microcontrollers designed to deliver precise, real-time control for demanding power conversion and motor control applications. By combining high control-loop frequencies, accurate processing and improved system efficiency, the new MCUs are designed to address the growing requirements of next-generation power electronics.
Built around a multicore Arm® Cortex®-M33 architecture, the PSOC Control C3 Performance Line is optimized for applications where fast and highly accurate control is essential. Target applications include AI server power supplies, solar energy systems, switched-mode power supplies, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and advanced motor control systems.
As power electronics increasingly transition from conventional analog control toward sophisticated digital architectures, designers require higher processing performance without significantly increasing system size or complexity. The PSOC Control C3 family is designed to address this need while also providing enhanced security and scalability for future-generation systems.
Advanced Performance for Real-Time Control
The PSOC Control C3 devices feature Arm Cortex-M33 processing cores operating at frequencies of up to 180 MHz. A dedicated **PPCA hardware accelerator**, together with dual Arm Cortex-M33-based microcontrollers running at up to 200 MHz, enables rapid access to analog and digital peripherals with zero-wait-state operation.
This architecture allows high-performance systems to react quickly to real-time events while minimizing control-loop latency. The devices also integrate a broad range of functions required for multi-output power systems, reducing the need for additional external components.
Support for wide-bandgap power devices further enhances the platform's capabilities. The combination of fast analog processing and precise digital control enables engineers to improve control-loop accuracy, switching performance and overall system efficiency.
Designed for Flexible and Scalable Applications
The new MCU family provides a scalable product portfolio with compatibility across different levels of functionality, package options, pin configurations, memory capacities and performance levels. This gives developers greater flexibility when adapting designs to different application requirements.
For battery-powered equipment, the devices also offer low standby power consumption, helping improve energy efficiency during idle or low-power operating conditions.
Infineon is also supporting development through its ModusToolbox™ Power Suite and Motor Suite GUI. These software tools provide application-specific development environments, libraries and design resources within a unified ecosystem, helping engineers accelerate development and reduce time to market.
Built-In Security for the Post-Quantum Era
Security is another important feature of the PSOC Control C3 Performance Line. The devices support the post-quantum cryptography (PQC) firmware protection requirements defined by Commercial National Security Algorithm (CNSA) Suite 2.0 and are also designed to support Platform Security Architecture (PSA) Level 3.
By combining PQC capabilities with advanced embedded security features, the platform helps developers prepare industrial and infrastructure applications for evolving cybersecurity requirements and the transition toward post-quantum security.
The MCUs support security features for both local and cloud-connected systems, including secure boot, secure firmware updates, code protection, secure device identities, authentication key storage, authenticity verification and integrity protection. The devices are also designed to be DICE-ready, providing a foundation for secure device identity and trusted computing architectures.
Supporting the Next Generation of Power Electronics
Steve Tateosian, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Infineon's Microcontroller business, highlighted that the new family was developed for digital control applications requiring higher switching frequencies without compromising precision, security or overall system efficiency.
As demand continues to grow for high-performance power conversion and motor control solutions, the PSOC Control C3 Performance Line provides a combination of processing capability, integrated peripherals, scalability and advanced security in a compact MCU platform.
With its focus on real-time control, wide-bandgap power support, low-power operation, flexible system integration and post-quantum security, the PSOC Control C3 Performance Line provides engineers with a versatile platform for developing the next generation of efficient and intelligent power systems.
